This "Utility set" looks like it has been through a war!.
I am informed that these sets were sold totally bare, no polish varnish etc. A lot of people went to their garden sheds and got out a pot of varnish to brighten them up a bit. This one is as found, plain and a bit grubby
This set is a MW only mains version. It has a U21 stamp indicating it was made by Philco. It worked and nothing has been done to it (by me anyway). It bears the label on top stating "War-Time Civilian Receiver Produced by the Radio Industry under Government direction. Quite sensitive, I am sure it would have heard "Germany calling"
