This set had been "got at" before. There was no FM. but AM was soon restored once the leaky capacitors had been replaced. With help at a BVWS workshop, I reversed the previous fix so that FM should work. Lots of smoke and burning noises!!. It turned out that the wafer waveband switch was no longer insulating properly. The reason for the previous modification was now apparent. As I wanted FM, a different approach was taken to bypass the switch. All bands now work.
The cabinet needs restoration to make this a fine set, a job for the summer.
